Sunday, November 16 is Thankoffering Sunday sponsered by the Women's Organization of Trinity. Special speaker will be Ruth Ann Peck from our own congregation. A special Thankoffering will be received to support the ministries of the National Organization of ELCA Church Women. Checks should be written to Women ELCA/Trinity.
Dorcas Sewing Circle makes lap robes for local hospitals and nursing homes as well as full size quilts for others. In 2007 we made 80 lap robes which were given away. Those who make lap robes sew on machines and tie them with yarn. Adjacent to them, the quilters are working on a large frame. Quilting is easy and fun -- and our quilters were taught "on the job" at Trinity. Our full-size quilts have won three blue ribbons at the Montgomery County Fair.Dorcas meets every Thursday beginning about 9:30 a.m. The ladies sew as long as they have time, with 2 p.m. our closing time. Bring a brown bag lunch. We usually eat with Pastor Doug at 12 noon.
Get out your knitting needles or crochet hooks or get to those early sales. The month of October and November will be the months we will collect hats and mittens for Graceworks.
Trinity is urging members to be generous in donating non-perishable food items in November and December. In these hard economic times, more families need help with putting food on the table. Trinity gives these items to the Food Pantry at New Hope Lutheran Church on Catalpa Drive.
Please remember those in need in your prayers and in your generous giving.
Collections of Campbell's soup labels, cell phones, tooth brushes and tooth paste, deodorant , shampoos and other hygiene products along with any household item that would help the Battered Women's Shelter. The large items can be placed in the large plastic tub under the donation table. As you recycle your pop cans, remember the Ronald McDonald House needs the flip tops to help pay their electric bill.
If your family members have upgraded to more exotic cell phones, you might wonder if you should throw the old ones away. Don't! The Women of ELCA has located a charitable organization named "Good Deed Foundation." They recycle the used cell phones and raise funds to benefit women and children in poverty. Seventy percent of people living in poverty are women and children. Place your used cell phones in the container on the donation table in the social hall.
